No One needs to learn that life is not just about sex, but responsibilities to one's partner, kids, work, friends, his parents, siblings, and keeping a connection with his cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents. It is all about responsibility, care, connection, ambition, and ethics. These keywords i mentioned above are almost neglected in the internet morals. Look at Quora for example, if anyone asks whether something is right. They would mostly never tell him or her 'nope'. I'm speaking about self-harming things. For example: Is porn healthy? Yes, is being addicted to a degrading, humiliating, and inhumane kink or fetish fine? Yes Go for it! Including extreme BDSM, Fetishes, Saddism and Masochism. If such things are opposing the normal life you're supposed to live and be responsible for, then they are wrong. If such desires oppose your role as a father, a husband, a wife and a mother, a person who needs to take care of themselves and their beloved ones, a perosn who wants to contribute to the society with a positive impact. Then submitting to these desires is wrong. If it degrades you, removes respect, care, and empathy between you and your partner. Then it is wrong. If it changes or limits the way you live then it is wrong. The thing is, many of the answers these days on the web are monetized, especially on Quora. Many members would not tell you what you need to know because it is not benefiting them. This is an advice to everyone, always look at your answers from the morals of society, traditions, belief. Think about how these things affect your value and connection with your family, friends, relatives, and work. If you think doing something is wrong and against your values then it is. Especially what's related to one's desires. When someone is on Nofap, and at some weak moment is willing to edge, one of the reasons that let him edge is his own thought "nothing would happen", "just a look", "a quick search"...etc And those people are like devils who would push you from the cliff if you rely on them, by listening to them, reading their posts or opinions, and engaging in their content. And this is how you should help others, everyone is free to do what they want, but doesn't mean they are right doing it. Because this doesn't harm themselves alone, but impacts the whole of society. And this is the primary reason why the world has declined in terms of morals comparing to what it used to be about two decades before.
There is an inner premitive inside every human which can tell him what is right and what is wrong. But when someone is addicted to Porn. They need to define what they are doing, what they are fighting, and why they do so. If they don't, and leave it for being "the open minded" and free to do anything because "why not", then I am sure they will remain in the cycle of their addiction. They will never quit. The least example is if you are doing nofap but still think that Porn is a good thing, and the porn industry is like any other business then this will work against you. What decides the right and wrong is you from deep inside, or your beliefs or your society's traditions and values.
i think you are referencing a conscience not everyone has one and again people are pliable they can be taught what is "right" and what is "wrong " the great hive mind exists and mob mentality is alive and well
Wrong. It’s all just perspective. There is no right or wrong. People just need to apply meaning to things because we can’t believe the world is so unfair.
I believe P creates unrealistic expectation but what is right and wrong may differ from person to person on those specific expectation though wouldn't it?
Does that mean we shouldn't listen to you? In all seriousness, I think it's better to say practise critical thinking. Don't accept what people say, nor reject it. Test what they say and if it seems right to you accept it.
The ideology promoted by much of the present world's so called elites is what I call authenticism. The idea is that there's an essential part of your being and the goal of your life is to embrace and express it. Don't let anyone tell you your "authentic self" is wrong! What that means in practice is a decline in standards.
It comes from a false conception of freedom as in doing whatever you like. The type of freedom you could have in prison. Freedom to get fat. Freedom to be promiscuous. Real freedom is being out of the prison, reaching for excellence, which is objective. It's not "moralizing" to say that being fat or lazy is bad, it's the truth.
