Donations for the further growth of Nofap

Can you donate anonomously? It might deter people if they have to give actual names, addresses and such....

 

I wish I could but I am still financially dependent on my parents and they don't even know about this.

 

I don't think there's a person on this forum that hasn't been helped at least a little bit by this website. For me personally, this forum launched me into adulthood in that iffy transition period between college and the professional world. I owe this website EVERYTHING.

Everything positive that's happened in the last year and a half is at least partially-linked to NoFap. That being said, I'm a dirt-poor college grad still living at home with his parents (at 24). Somewhere down the road, I would of course be willing to donate money. And I'm not talking chump-change either. I'm talking five figures. This website is THAT important to me. But that day may take a year or a decade. So there lies the problem, OP; most if not all the members of this forum aren't in a position to even help themselves financially, much less this website.

 

I'd definitely be up for chipping in a bit.

 

Dear Alexander, I doubt if any of us here have an idea of the true extent of your philanthropy in spearheading this movement with this website and related activities. For thousands of people, this resource has been the nub of a life-changing experience. I agree that NoFap is unsustainable without some changes and I am sure a community we can come up with some answers to this. On a purely personal note, I greatly appreciate a forum sans advertising and hope that it stays that way. I hope that is realistic.

On your status today, you mention running a half marathon - good luck btw! It sparked a thought which prompted me to come here and post something. If anyone else is running a full/half marathon (or doing any other challenging feat), perhaps they can use it to raise money for NoFap. I am not sure if NoFap would have to be a registered charity, but I don't think so. The other thought I had is that there might be fundraisers here by profession that could offer advice about other ways to finance NoFap. If they don't want to identify this skill on the forum, they could discuss it with you via private message and you could lay out their advice in a off topic thread. All the very best: IGY.

 

We are now more then 40000 user.If each of us donated 1$ that would make more than 40000$.I think everyone can afford one dollar!Just find a way to make anonymous!!!

 

It is a good point, although only a few hundred are probably active at any one time. I suspect most of that number are now, unused, defunct accounts.

 

EVERYONE on this site can afford $1. Seriously, go beg on the street for it if you need to!

Anonymity is very important and if you have ads for porn blockers that wouldn't bring in any suggestive material especially if it is a "fixed" ad instead of a rolling ad. So for example paying for a certain sized block and you just add their moniker might work. Kind of like a newspaper ad. So many people ask the question "what porn blockers do you use". This way the answer is right there with a link to their site. I have seen convenant eye ads on other forums.

Another idea is to offer something for the donation. An e-booklet of tips and tricks for example? Or all the stickied sections condensed into an e-file?

 

Have made progress as a human being since finding this community. Absolutely I will contribute/donate. Apologies for not having the knowledge of these things to have asked about it before.

Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing ads for porn blockers and other "wholesome" ads on here. I'm pretty anti-advertisement too. Also Limeaid's e-book idea is great. We can have some of the members write articles about a specific aspect of porn/ porn recovery and compile them together into a book of essays. It would finally be a way to get all this great knowledge offered here in one place: the science of how pornography effects our brains, what pornography does to society, the violence in the pornography industry, the science behind rebooting, Coolidge effect, chaser, all that sort of stuff. Maybe even a historical overview of different society's attitudes towards masturbation.

 

I'm in! The only thing I will say is that maybe there should be a choice. Not everyone wants the whole "history and sociology" of porn rammed down their throats. They are just looking for some tips and tricks to keep handy. So we could have a table of contents with subjects like how to handle urges, flatlining, rewiring etc. Like a go to guide for beating porn. I could make that book for sure! Would be more than happy to!

 

Maybe we could write two books? One a guide, another that goes into depths about pornography? And we could offer them at different giving levels, like the chaps at NPR do during their fundraising drives?
