[Breaking Free: A Poem of Liberation from Addiction]
    By Ammar

In the shadows of addiction's grasp, I once dwelled,
Lost in the labyrinth of desires, where darkness swelled.
Masturbation and pornography, my constant crutch,
Led me down a path where I lost touch.

As a child, I sought solace in forbidden pleasure,
Unaware of the depths of its treacherous measure.
It consumed my days, tarnished my soul,
Turning once innocent desires into a gaping hole.

I stole, I lied, I disrespected with ease,
    Blinded by urges, ignoring pleas.
Teachers, loved ones, all fell victim to my vice,
As addiction clouded my heart, entwined like ice.

But in the depths of despair, a flicker ignited,
A glimmer of hope, though faint, it invited.
Slowly, steadily, I began to rise,
From the ashes of addiction, I saw the skies.

    Withdrawal stages tested my resolve,
Yet within the struggle, I began to evolve.
    Maturity blossomed, resilience grew strong,
As I fought the battles within, where I belong.

    Anhedonia and fatigue, formidable foes,
Yet I learned to endure, to weather the blows.
Days turned to weeks, in abstinence's embrace,
As I sought redemption, finding grace.

Pure love now fills the chambers of my heart,
As I reclaim innocence, each fragmented part.
Living life anew, like a child at play,
In the light of recovery, I find my way.

So here I stand, a testament to the fight,
Against addiction's grasp, against the night.
For in the depths of struggle, growth is found,
And from the ashes of despair, hope resound.
