This post was inspired by sinner76's post over at https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?threads/pluckeye.300403/. I thought I would update it for 2024, for those wanting more up to date resources

This guide is for Window ONLY. In my case, I am using Windows 11.

If you're reading this thread, you're likely wanting to use Plucky (formerly known as Pluckeye). https://www.pluckeye.net/ is the original site, although the more up-to-date site is https://pluckyfilter.com/. Plucky helps you block potentially triggering sites, and aids you with your self-control-related issues. It is not an alternative to trying to control urges - view it as a condiment to go with your metaphorical NoFap-burger.

Plucky describes itself as having :

    • Image Blocking - Plucky can block all images and videos on all sites. This only applies in Classic Mode
    • Delay - Delay which will allow sites to be unblocked after a set period of time - for example a delay of 5 minutes means you must wait 5 minutes until you can view a recently allowed site.
    • Lockdown - Adding onto Delay, if you try and uninstall Plucky during the delay period, it won't uninstall.
    • Cross-Device Synchronisation - Settings will carry over to your devices, as long as they support Plucky.
    • Scheduled Blocking - You're able to block sites at certain times, as well as being able to set a full internet blackout at certain times.
    • Accountability - Accountability Partners are able to see what sites you've allowed, for an extra feeling of responsibility.
These aren't all the features, and I won't list them all, as it will fill the whole post.

Now, here's the setup guide - simplified and placed in one area:

Step 1: Go to https://getplucky.net/ and click the blue "installer" button - it should have a Windows logo.

    • You may find your antivirus may remove the file - look inside your antivirus and ensure it won't delete the installer or block it's functions.
Step 2: Once it has fully downloaded, bring the .exe file and place it on your desktop. Double click the .exe.
    Step 3: Installing Plucky

    • It will ask for admin privileges. Allow it.
    • Read and accept the agreement - like this https://imgur.com/a/Z7dq6Vk
    • Click next, and choose what browsers you would like Plucky to support - in my case I use Firefox and Chrome, so I selected them, like this https://imgur.com/NV66ChP
    • Click next, and check your settings - you can go back now if you need.
    • When you're ready, choose "Install" and Plucky will install for you. When it's done, click "Finish" - like this https://imgur.com/bfvcy8y
Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type
    Code:
    cd "C:\Program Files\Pluck\v\1.16.12\bin"
    Into your CMD window.
This command will bring you into the Plucky directory.

Test that Plucky is installed correctly, by trying
    Code:
    pluck version
. If it works, it'll bring back a version number (displayed as "1.16.12" for example)

Using the Command Prompt to setup Pluck
    Use
    Code:
    pluck delay
Using either h/m/s depending on how long you want the delay for. For example, if you want a 3 hour delay, you would type
    Code:
    pluck delay 3h
    • Set the delay at a relatively low number at first, to make sure that the software is suitable and is working correctly
    Use
    Code:
    pluck future
To check if any changes are due to be processed. If you want to cancel these changes, type
    Code:
    pluck abort
To abort the changes before they go through.

    Blocking Sites
    • If you want to block a site completely, use
      Code:
      pluck + block https://example.com
    • If you want to block a site's images, use
      Code:
      pluck + block example.com image/
You can also use /video and /text to block these aspects of a page.
    Blocking Programs
    • If you want to block an application's access to the internet, use
      Code:
      pluck + block program:program.exe
    Removing Blocks
    • If you need to remove a block on a site, use
      Code:
      pluck - block example.com
    • If you need to remove a block on a site, use
      Code:
      pluck - block program:example.exe
Forcing an extension to be enabled to make Plucky work [HIGHLY RISKY]
    • Plucky can use an extension as a requirement for Plucky to work. This is a "last resort" in a way.
    • I personally use "Blocksi Web Filter for Chrome" - it allows you to block certain categories of content, as well as allowing you to block certain YouTube genres.
    • https://chromewebstore.google.com/d...gocogcbffgkbn?hl=en-GB&utm_source=ext_sidebar is the link for it
    • Click the blue "Add To Chrome" button. It'll ask for permissions relating to search history and tab URLs - allow it, as it's designed for this.
    • Once it's been added to Chrome it'll open a new tab and show this - https://imgur.com/Bcszc7F. Click the "FREE" button.
    • It'll then begin the setup wizard. Click next at the bottom right to continue.
    • It'll ask for what preset you would like to use - choose "Children" - you can change it later https://imgur.com/ILwTrQp
    • It'll then ask you to put a password in, and to confirm it. DON'T USE ONE OF YOUR USUAL PASSWORDS
    • I recommend opening a Notepad document, and typing word spam into it like this - sudsudhsfhdu - and copy-pasting it into your password boxes.
    • Message a close friend, partner, or family member this password.
    • Click "Verify Password" - like this - https://imgur.com/JZIclQu
    • Delete the notepad file, and empty your recycle bin. If you want to open the extension after the inital setup, you'll need to ask the trusted person for the password.
    • It'll now say you're all set - click "Skip Wizard" at the top right.
    • You'll be brought to this page - https://imgur.com/f52ib3O
    • Make sure Security Risk, Unethical and Adult/Mature Content is blocked. It'll look like this if it's blocked - https://imgur.com/R64fqpA
    • If you feel comfortable enough, leave the other 4 categories (Bandwidth Consuming, Business, Personal and Unrated) alone. You can look at each categories' features it covers, and customise to your needs, if you like.
    • Make sure Safe Search is enabled, like this - https://imgur.com/LZNKLxi
    • If you need, you can go up to "URL Filter", and allow certain URLs. I allowed Imgur in my case, so I can upload images. Be careful with this. https://imgur.com/o71Ep4n
    • Leave the other settings on the top bar alone, as Plucky does these features and they may clash.
    • Don't close the website yet. Copy the URL into a text file, so it looks like this
      Code:
      chrome-extension://pgmjaihnmedpcdkjcgigocogcbffgkbn/options.html
    • You need the ID of the extension, in order to link it with Plucky. The code is always here: "chrome-extension://pgmjaihnmedpcdkjcgigocogcbffgkbn/options.html". Copy this ID and keep it safe on a document
    • Now, open Plucky's directory in CMD, and type
      Code:
      pluck + require [ID]
    • In my case, the ID is "pgmjaihnmedpcdkjcgigocogcbffgkbn"
    • You can now close the Blocksi tab. You'll find if you disable Blocksi, it'll prevent Plucky from working, so be careful with this.
    • You can undo this by using
      Code:
      pluck - require [ID]

What I would recommend is blocking all potentially triggering sites, such as Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogspot and PornHub.

I hope this helps somebody with their NoFap journey.

Feel free to look at https://docs.pluckeye.net/overview for more details and setup options.

This post is being updated as I learn more about Plucky. I wish to help others in the same situation as me.
