As I read Quran Surah Taha, Ayat no 15, "The Hour of Resurrection is coming. I have willed to keep the time of its coming hidden so that everyone may be recompensed in accordance with his effort." Which means we are told about the day of judgement so that we prepare for it.(That is it is not hidden from us instead we are informed about its being coming.
