    • You must always have an open mind
    • When in times of great trauma and pain, detach
    • War is hell - be grateful you have not experienced it
    • Go to war to win
    • If you cannot control something, do not worry about it
    • Be in control of all you can control
    • Exercise seven days a week - let life bring you days off
    • Take care of all your responsibilities - do not delegate, take ownership

    • "If you are to write, write 1,000 words a day" - John Willink
    • Build the foundations first
    • The written word is a very powerful tool
    • Detach throughout the process - during the event
    • The hard part is to notice the pull of emotion and chaos
    • Ask yourself "What do I look or sound like right now?"
    • Notice the signs in your body that you are losing detachment
    • Nobody likes being evaluated or judged
    • Remember you have natural defensive mechanisms; put your ego in check, then listen

    • The long-term benefits are the real benefits
    • Discipline starts with waking up early
    • It is the root of all good qualities
    • It must be applied to all aspects of your life
    • Discipline is doing what is right
    • Do not break in the moment of truth - discipline will not allow it
    • Discipline is your best friend - it will put you on your path. Your path to freedom
    • When you make yourself better, you make the world better
    • Get after it
