Some notes (mostly for me, lol): Two states of being: stressful and no-stress (beautiful) Stressful emotions: Anger, fear, hurt, loneliness, frustration Beautiful emotions: Connection, joy, love, compassion, vitality, passion If you're not in a beautiful state, your default state is stress. All of our choices stem from one of these states. We choose which state to drive our choices from. Three well-trodden paths: 1. Live in stressful state & plummet into hurting inner states 2. Try to escape stress with temporary dopamine highs 3. Replace inconvenient beliefs, stories, and ideas with more convenient ones Problem remains, none of these deal with suffering or long-term stress. Need a 'greater inner power' to get to beautiful state. Emotional suffering arises from self-centric preoccupation, separating you from the other. Realizing that all lingering and suffering is a total preoccupation with one's self, that it's an obsessive self-centric thinking, is the most powerful antidote for any form of suffering that could have gripped you.
