Anyone who managed to overcome gaming addiction (without encouraging to titles etc) please give some tips or strategies. What worked, what didn't work in your case.

Any motivational stories, pep talk, or other resources, such as game-addiction sites or forums appreciated.

I straight up just packed my Xbox and brought it to my Moms house, got a flip phone as well to help with the mobile gaming. After about three months I ended up getting it again since I felt I could control myself at that point. The issue was loads better but when it was time to get it back I still needed to keep a close eye on myself and be honest with myself if I was playing too much. I think that’s the most important step in building the actual self control. Anyway that’s what worked for me

You just have to throw your playstation and delete Steam account :)

  5. I used to be what you might call addicted when I was younger. Mainly online shooters like Overwatch, Call of Duty, etc. Unlike a lot of people though I didn't need to do much to give them up, I just got so fed up of how angry the games made me that I turned them off and never played them again. So I guess when you look at it that way I wasn't addicted in any real sense? Maybe the better word would be obsessed.

Anyway, nowadays I still game but it serves a different purpose in my life. I regularly relax with an hour of a chill game like The Binding of Isaac where I mute the audio and listen to music, audiobooks, podcasts etc. I find it's a good distraction from porn. Honestly I can see myself more-or-less quitting gaming within the next 5 years simply because modern games are mostly awful and it's not worth spending so much money for a console I'd barely use. If Nintendo didn't still put out high quality, wholesome games that I don't find exploitive, my playtime outside of the aforementioned chill sessions would probably be close to zero.

Hello. The best strategy is about building the will power, you won't win with that without frontal lobe that is being annihilated every time we use drugs like games, xxx. We all know what to do to win, is building discipline the stronger the will power gets the easier to quit. Game Quitters is the youtube side that helped me understand, because once you get into information that you were tempted you gain the anger that push you forward.Every addiction has the same chain, finding a reason to quit, having strong frontal lobe (will power) and getting rid of source of mentioned games or deleting them(pc ) from that thing. The crucial is taking the thought that the games will not offer anything but lose of time you won't regain as in xxx.
