I am on nofap and it is already very hard for me. I also abstain from tiktok, twitter, instagram. I try not to use reddit but sometimes I do. rarely. but anyway, I get rid off many dopamine sources.

I still play a strategy game. I am afraid that if I don't play that, I would go insane and I would be more likely to fap. also I don't play this game, as solely playing a game. I usually listen podcasts or streams. I don't sit and just play the game but playing is part of listening a podcast.

so my question is do you think strategy games are that bad? I asked chatgpt. and it said that strategy games are not as dopamine intensive as fps games. but they can still cause dopamine production. I was expecting this answer.

do you think how bad are strategy games dopamine addiction wise? I feel like they are the most innocent dopamine source. how is that different than playing a chess? (also a strategy game)

Which game is it? For me I got addicted to Civilization 5. That one more turn psychology is real. I’m currently playing magic Arena right now. I play is daily for an hour or two. I don’t find it as addictive but still enjoyable. I think you need to determine if you are addicted to it or not.

by the way, I guess I gave up. I won't fap but I will look at fetish stories. I am depressed because of the pain. I feel like nofap can't solve my issues and I have neurological or vascular issues. Doctors don't have knowledge about these things. I am tired of fighting. I think I will give up on trying to heal.

Oh no quitters was hardcore. I used to watch filthy robot on YouTube. I never got into pvp just pve.

I like the idea of replacing your porn and masturbation habit with another habit like gaming. Just monitor it. Know yourself. Journal on it. Think on it. Self awareness is key for recovering from addiction.

I don't have pied. but I have penile injury. I am not sure if nofap will fix it or not. I have had other issues too which I recently had surgery for it. urologists can't help me. they are so incompetent than even I learned about my illnesses better than them.

I came to this point of "I will do whatever I want because I can't beat this anyway". I have perinium pain, genital pain, abdominal pain lymphocele, testicle swelling from time to time etc... I don't know whats happening. lymphocele can go away with nofap so thus trauma. but this perinium pain, genital pain, abdominal pain is scaring me. they said it can take 3-6 months to heal but I am losing my hopes.

I wasn’t a big fan of Civ 6 but I still enjoyed it. I liked the art style. I played it the most on switch before bed. That was actually a nice way of playing Civ. I’ve never played the Europa games. Are they like Civ?

civ is more simple. europa 4 is much more detailed. first time I tried, I quit because it was too complicated. then I tried again and once I learned it I loved it. in fact, it might be slightly better than civ 5 for me.

I also tried hoi4, but even though they said it is easier than eu4, I couldn't learn the game. I am very good at eu4 though.

In my opinion, older games are way less addictive. I've been thinking about playing Diablo 1.

yeah I have heard about it. but back then I didn't play as a child. so I don't have the nostalgia.

I have a potato PC, no actually, I would have to overclock it to even be considered potato.
Btw, I would stay away from online games if I were you; online games are basically engineered to be as addictive as possible.

It honestly depends on what you’re playing, and if you obsess over it. Like when I quit porn Minecraft was my go to, and I was playing it for 10 hours a day minimum which is too much.

That’s good if it helps for the time being, and as long as it’s not abused for the short term I think it’s okay. In terms of strategy games, I miss when I had the WW2 board game Risk back then. I’m thinking about getting Axis & Allies: Europe as a replacement, but it’s a shame the maps aren’t as big as they used to be!

I’ve stop playing videogames especially due to strategic games. I was a player of Hoi4, Civ5, Stellarid and Ck3. They sucked my time, it is like gambling, you don’t notice the time passing, I think my record was something like 10 hours in a row but I’m not sure.

People that make these game know exacty how the brain works and do everything to maintain you hooked to screen.

Quit games is great tho, I’ve last played in 13 october 2023 (I didn’t played for the entire summer 2023 btw before) and it is more than 100 days now, no regrets. Now I focus on sport, writing and reading, and noticed I have much more time and feel less zombi. Sometime I relapse on porn, but I noticed it help you to avoid urges, but some use videogames to avoid porn urge also. For me my gaming brain is gone, I don’t want to touch them again, i’ve started at 4-5 years old, it’s been 20 years, and gaming today is a scam, since they want you addicted, give you unfinished games and wants your money for dlc, microtransactions, ecc….

I had similar issues with Minecraft when it was the golden age (pre version 1.8 beta), It hooked me to screens, I’ve builded houses and towns but then I lost my save, and made me think: these achivment I got on videogames are a scam, I didn’t achived anything, everything I did didnmt helped with progress in my life, it just wasted my time since I builded for no reasons and my save is lost.

i forgot to says that I think I have some kind of burnout from videogames since as I remind after 1-2 hours I was starting to feel sick and bad, headchace, eye circles, ecc…
