hey there. I have a few questions about dopamine and how the reward system works. I have been addicted to pmo for around a decade and sadly have PIED as a result. I also regularly use the drug kratom which boosts dopamine in the brain. As much as i would love to try and quit both these addictions at the same time, i don't feel like i'm mentally strong enough to quit both completely right now.
If i carry on using drugs a few times a week is this going to slow down my reboot a lot? I really cant handle tackling both these problems at once. If i don't get high for a few days i seem more likely to relapse. I guess I use Pmo to feel good instead.

i use kratom regularly too, i got it for anxiety but i use it to get high too, i've actually been using everyday since i started this streak i'm on now but i just ran out so i'm probably not gonna order any more for a couple weeks to get my tolerance back down.. but i've been switching strains everyday so i don't get withdrawal & it doesnt make my tolerance too high, but i was using up to twice a day to get high mainly so i'm gonna chill out on that.. but i haven't used it in a couple days i feel fine, besides PMO withdrawal of course, that sucks.. but all in all i don't think it will slow down you're reboot, i'm not 100% sure but i think about how a lot of things we do in our daily lives release dopamine like exercise, food, social encounters, ect. & doing those help the reboot.. now i'm not saying drugs will help lol drugs probably won't but Kratom, is all natural & organic so i don't really see it having too big of an effect if any at all, but i'm just putting 2 & 2 together. but i'll let you know how my reboot goes as i plan on getting back on Kratom in a couple weeks.

Hey man thanks for your input. You really don't want to be using that stuff twice a day. I've heard that's when it can start to turn abit nasty on you because your brain has little to no time in between highs. Your much more likely to start experiancing withdrawal symptoms like this when you run out or come to stop using. I just hope the prolonged higher dosses of dopamine won't have an effect on my recovery of ED. I know drugs are one of the main causes of ED so I might not be helping myself really

I'm sorry but you have to quit both at the same time. Think of your addictions as things you use to lean on when you've lost emotional stability. When things go badly in your life, you rely on these things to make you feel better (which is unhealthy). If you are going to abstain from one of them, are you sure that you won't use the other addiction to make up for it? This is very similar to people who quit drugs and start smoking. Keeping one or more addictions in your life beats the purpose of recovery. The purpose of the reboot is to manage your life and emotions based on intrinsic values rather than external factors like addiction.

This is just my opinion, but I am sure that I am right.

    Good luck.

    DS.

Yea I think your right. Deep down I know that I rely on my addiction to hide from my emotions and problems. I smoke a pack a day and have done for a long time so I will probably have to work on that one day to. What u said makes tottal sence to me. I'm just going to have to bight the bullet and deal with my drug habbit aswell. I just don't want to take on to much at once but I think it's the only way really
