    Onlyfans addiction

No idea if anyone will actually read this, just need to admit to myself more than anything that I have a problem. Possible trigger warning for some.

I have been a member of Onlyfans for years, never really spending that much, maybe $15-$20 a month on subscriptions very rarely buying PPVs. I have been following a particular model for years and sort of became addicted, and craved the attention more than anything else.

The problem now lies in that in the last few months I have begun to spend ridiculous amounts of money each day for content, $10-$20 or more at a time several times a day in some case. I also spend $200+ on sexting sessions each day. Again just for the attention. I know nothing will come of these interactions but still do it anyway for the huge dopamine rush it brings.

I have no idea how much I have spent so far. I had been in denial that I was spending so much and always justified by saying to myself that I could afford it. But now my savings are starting to erode. I need to sit down with a spreadsheet and work out how much I’ve actually spent - it must be close to $2000 in a few months but I may get a shock.

Again, I hope someone reads this, it’s time that I admit I have a problem and do something about it. Any and all advice welcome. I have deleted one Onlyfans account, but one remains (the one with all the content) I am trying to rationalise not deleting it because all that content will be lost, for my own sake I may have to just bite the bullet and delete it.

Thanks for reading if you’ve got this far.

Hey good step, I have only been on here a few days but seems a good place for support. I think it is good you have started to count up how much you are spending, ignoring it will not help but working it out will hopefully have the positive of making you think what are you doing and just think of all the other things you could do with that money , anyone can say just delete the account with the content but we all know it’s not as easy as that, even if you deleted it would you stop? If you have doubts I would work on the trigger point first and go from there.

  3. Welcome! I have been dealing with an addiction to a specific camera model since 2021. She disappeared this past February, so I am kind of off the hook. But before then, I was increasing the duration of the time periods away from her room, so improvement is possible.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I've been there, spending a significant amount of money on webcam girls, prostitutes, and massage parlors, probably even more than what you've described. And like you, I've been hesitant to confront the real figures. It's daunting.

Your situation with OnlyFans, in my view, is a complex and insidious form of addiction. Like mine to prostitutes, webcam girls. It taps into our deep-seated needs for intimate connection, acceptance, and a sense of accomplishment – all of which are rooted in our survival and reproductive instincts. When we mistake transactional acceptance for real intimacy, it's incredibly challenging to break free from that illusion. This type of addiction can be more psychologically entangling than traditional porn because it plays tricks on our mind, offering a semblance of connection that porn cannot.

However, remember that the key to overcoming this is a firm decision. Once you decide to quit, embrace that decision wholeheartedly. Don't second-guess yourself. There's no reason to mope about it. Be proud and happy about taking this step. You're not just escaping an addiction; you're freeing yourself from something that's been dragging you down emotionally, mentally, and financially. You're reclaiming your self-respect, your time, your energy. The benefits are endless.

Deleting your OnlyFans account might feel like a loss at first, but it's not. It's like letting go of a heavy burden you've been carrying for too long. The content you might feel you lose is nothing compared to what you gain in return – peace of mind, self-respect, and financial stability.

    Stay strong!

Adding to what I mentioned earlier, I want to stress that deleting your OnlyFans account, while a positive step, isn't the ultimate solution. It's beneficial, yes, as it creates a barrier during the transition from addiction to freedom. When you're triggered, not having immediate access can buy you crucial time to rethink your actions. But let's be real here – deleting an account is not a cure. From my own experience with webcam sites and seeking blocks from various platforms, I can tell you that an addicted mind is crafty. It will find ways to get what it wants. I've deleted my accounts countless times, only to create new ones later. The truth is, if there's still a part of you that sees some relief or false comfort in engaging with OnlyFans, and if you haven't fully acknowledged the transactional nature of these interactions, all the fake behavior, only to get your money, the chances are you will get involved to onlyfans. The real work lies in changing how we view these platforms and our relationship with them. It's about recognizing that what feels like relief or connection is actually just a fleeting, artificial interaction that costs us much more than money – it costs us our emotional and mental well-being.So, while deleting your account is a step in the right direction, it's just the beginning. The deeper challenge is reshaping your mindset and understanding the true nature of these interactions. It's a might look tough journey, but it's easy when you see real picture, it's also incredibly rewarding. And remember, every step you take towards understanding and changing your behavior is a victory in itself

Thank you for such a detailed response, it’s comforting to know that there are others out there that have a similar addiction.

deleting or placing blocks on content has never worked in the past for me. If I remove a card from my account, I can just add it back later for example! I even had issues purchasing content on my old OF account, so I just created a new one - an addicted mind will always find a way around restrictions. I even started to delete some of my stash of content, but the next urge I had, I just restored it from backups.

I think my next step is to just confront the amount I’ve truly spent, and think about what else I could have spent that on, or calculate how many hours I would have to work to earn that money back. Admitting I have a problem has been the biggest step though and urges have already reduced.

Accepting that this attention is also ‘fake’ has been massive step in the right direction too
Thanks for everyone’s responses so far.

  7. That has been my feelings on blockers: we're just adding one more obstacle in our way to porn. Now, I am using a VPN service that is blocking the content for me. Who is to say that I would turn that option off and go right back to it. In your case, who is to say that you would put your card information back in and get back into again. I think the only thing that will work is willpower and determination, and having a change of mindset.

You could, but I am concerned that this could lead you to beating yourself up in the process. My recommendation is to move on from the past and better yourself now.

Last week I deleted my OnlyFans account. I haven't spent too much on it because nowadays I'm careful with how much money I spend on things but I could have bought something more meaningful instead. There's always the possibility that I could create another one but if I stay from porn I won't.

One thing I've started doing is reading parts of the chapter on porn in the book 'The Case Against the Sexual Revolution'. When I do this I lose all desire to look at porn. Maybe you could do this. It doesn't necessarily have to be The Case Against the Sexual Revolution, it can be any book that compels you to not look at porn.

I’m coming back to this post with a short update.

I calculated how much I have spent in the last 6 months (the bulk of my purchases) and it was way more than I expected or thought I had spent.

I originally calculated in my head around $2000, but it actually came to over $4200. Whilst shocking for me, I needed to know the true figure.

Regardless, I’m done with OF. I know I can never get that money back, but at least now I can focus on improving myself both mentally and financially.

To anyone else that might have the same problem with OF, you have to confront it and stop right now. It isn’t worth it at all.

In my case it was not OF, but a similar addiction -- camming sites -- that cost me in multiple ways. Thanks for the encouragement to stop and confront.

  11. It is encouraging to me that you say it is not worth it at all. I have never downloaded OF but I fear what I'd do if I did...

Nice begin pal. I know how bad is spend money on that kind of shit (OF speciffically was just once that i did it and then at the same day i canceled and deleted everything after i realized how enslaved i got). We are all here struggling to get free, so don't feel ashamed to ask or vent about anything.

Wish you a good journey, that's one step towards victory.

I went into debt because of how much I spent on cam sites. It took 6-9 months to pay my old bank back. It was a good lesson in the importance of being careful with my money.

While not in debt now, I was beginning to pay for content on my credit card with the mindset of “I can pay this off next month” Was stupid looking back at it.

Luckily I have managed to catch it early and stop myself taking it further. All I’ve lost is some savings and will have to make some sacrifices in my everyday spending to earn that money back.

it has been a massive wake up call for me, and if I can stop at least 1 other person falling into this trap, this post would have been worth it.

OnlyFans is an absolute cancer on society. Remove your credit card, cancel all your OF subscriptions, and then delete your OF account. Do it today. I can't think of a single sexual outlet more destructive to a man's morale or his wallet than OnlyFans.

This is what makes me believe that AI girlfriends truly are the future. As fake as it is, most will happily embrace the illusion.

The bad things about onlyfans is first obviously even spending money at all on it, but besides that, you're getting nothing tangible out of the deal. At least if you paid for an escort you're getting something tangible (just making a point, i am in no way recommending this).
