Hello follow Catholics! I ran across a video of a presentation by a Catholic priest, Fr. Greg Gerhart.

Like most of us here on nofap, we have probably watched a couple 100 or more videos about overcoming pornography and masturbation addictions. I found this video to be unique. Father's message is hopeful, thought provoking, at times humorous, intelligent, and relatable. I think this is the only video I can remember watching that left me looking forward to a life of chastity.

I hope you all enjoy the video as much as I did.

I watched this video in its entirety. Thank you for making we aware of it. All I can say is, WOW! In this video the priest talks frankly about the incredible prevalence of pornography in our lives, the spiritual side of fighting it and then provides some physical - pragmatic advice.

There are many excellent points in here for helping us find freedom from PMO. Here are just a few that really struck me from this talk.

    1) Statistics show that, on average, people are first exposed to porn at age 12. Chances are you weren't looking for porn at that age, someone exposed you to it. It wasn't your fault and God does not blame you for it.
    2) When the prodigal son came home to his father covered in stinking, mucky filth, the father did not hesitate to run out and embrace him. With the same mercy and understanding, Jesus does not despise us for PMO [or any other reason] and He remains waiting, longing for our return.
    3) God loves us too much to exempt us from the spiritual battle. The sense of freedom we find from battling with temptations and finding a way past them is part of God's plan for us and God delights in our success each time we resist temptation.
    4) There are four kinds of triggers- Emotional, Cognitive, Situational, Relational. With regards to emotional triggers, the acronym BLASST, is a reminder of emotions to be wary of, it stands for Bored, Lonely, Angry, Sad, Stressed, Tired.
    5) Don't clean yourself up for confession. Be completely honest with your confessor and in this frank truthfulness about yourself, you can experience God's forgiveness and love for you exactly as you are.

There is much more in this video. If you want freedom from PMO, you will not regret giving this video your time.
