Just curious. I've told my sister but I don't believe she's fully aware of how serious it is or how much it's fucked my life up. I haven't brought it up in a long time but tbh she probably thought I was joking the times I did mention it to her. I've also told my best friend. But again, I sorta get the sense that he either thought I was kidding or being a drama queen about it. I don't think he fully realizes how much it's affected my life
Everyone feels like it's a joke. Maybe the approach needs to change while addressing such sensitive matters. I told my friend he thought I was high or drunk but later he realized that I meant it.
I've talked to my Pastor. In my personal case I don't feel addicted to porn, I just want to bring my masturbation level down to zero from once every 1-2 weeks for my religion because I eventually want to get a Masters in Divinity, and plant a Church. I have the feeling that I am called into service, but have never been called for marriage. Because I am not called to marriage, I must strive for zero sexual immorality, including masturbation. My Pastor believes my stance on masturbation is the equivalent of making a mountain out of a molehill, and that I should find a wife, and direct all of my sexual energy toward her. He has also said that in our branch, I will be discriminated on if I remain unmarried.
@Grow_out_of_it Being analogous to cigarettes, I feel like NoFap is about 20 years in front of the surgeon general warning being slapped on these websites. This stuff is never, ever discussed in the media, at least from what I've seen.
The only person in my life that's aware of it is one of my rabbis, and he guessed it by himself. Thanks to him, I managed to go through a couple of years of 3-week-streaks, and this was before I was aware of how much information was available online. I've never had the courage to tell anyone else.
My partner knows about it and certainly takes it seriously, and the other person I tried explaining it to was my dad but he thinks it's a joke and that I'm being daft.
Last month I told a psychologist about my addiction And some of my college friends were aware that I used to watch porn......but they didn't see it as an issue Because 80% of them were doing the same
I feel kind of the same way. There was some talk about this issue on the Netflix show: Big Mouth. I also feel that like tobacco, meat is the next thing to have warnings of cancer and death slapped onto it too.
At the beginning of my PMO addiction (probably in 2015/2016) when I still felt the guilt so strongly weighing down on me . I told my older 2 sisters about the MO part only! I couldn’t bring myself to tell them the whole truth. I remember that day I was crying and telling them how horrible it is. One of them said it’s ok and she does it occasionally and I can quit it. The other (the one so close to me) just stared at me with a faint smile like she was trying to hide her shock . I regret telling them. at home I’m the wise, advice giver , no nonsense one ..etc so I felt like I’ve slightly disappointed them. So ever since ,I’ve only been discussing this whole thing on here.
I've told my parents a longg time ago..and they knew of my struggles and tried to get me to behave online. Was a battle. But ffw to now years later, this year I informed my mom that I'm doing better than ever online and I think she got my point though we didn't speak directly about it..she seemed pretty proud of me * u *. My parents would be proud to know I'm on here. I've also told a few friend and lovers who supported me.
