I think it's the same for all those things, they may not be explicitly mentioned in the bible but they're inferred from the things that are specified. Sex with transvestites is still sex with men. Masturbation and porn are adultery. Illegal downloading is theft. Etc... What I was trying to say was that even though something may not be explicitly said in the bible, you can always infer if it's bad or good from those things that are explicitly said. I don't think we can rely on the church or in our conscience. All paths a man takes seem right in his own eyes. The bible may not specify something as being bad, but it gives us enough guidelines to come to the right conclusion.
As I was an active PMO addict I had been PMOing but I hadn't been taking it right in my eyes thanks to the teaching of my Church and thanks to my conscience and mind ( I had been seeing destructive effects of my addiction ). So I think the quote from the Bible cannot be understood universally for all bad behaviour. Maybe it's described here a mentality of prideful men who think that God's commandements and the Bible are only a human invention. This attitude I notice when I observe many politicians, VIPs, singers, actors,....how prideful and self-righteous are they
How could you infer from the Bible that damaging and poluting the inviroment is bad. (or animal abuse)?
I'm not sure, I think Genesis mentions something about taking care of the world and the animals that god created.
Genesis 1 ,,26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Before you write or say what is in the Bible check it out first.
Could you give me the verse? If we talk about the Bible we must be always ready to prove something giving the name of the book, chapter and verse. Without this some people maintained that there were lines in the Bible about aliens ( E. von Deniken).
Hello everyone, If you let me join you in this discussion. Im a Muslim myself, premarital sex in Islam is Fornication/adultery and A sin, I don't know much about christianity, but do you guys think premarital sex is wrong? What group of christians think that way?
I don't understand all this talk about how the Bible isn't clear about premarital sex... Fornication is condemned all throughout the Bible: Corinthians 6:9 Verse Concepts "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals". So for all those who say that the Bible doesn't specifically condemn it, they can be proven wrong. Just one of many verses.
Adultery is not the same thing as premarital sex. The verses you would want to use to make your case against premarital sex would be the ones which talk about fornication (Mark 7:20-23).
Adultery is only a sexual action of a married person (with someone not their marriage partner). So, adultery does not cover premarital sex.
Some here say that premarital sex is not a sin because it's not the same as fornication which the Bible mentions. And they say that it is allowed. As we know the New Testament was written in Greek. It's for us highly interesting that in Corintians 6:9 there is the word - pornoi translated as fornicators. Pornoi comes from the word - pornos. What are the meanings of this word? http://biblehub.com/greek/4205.htm 1.a male prostitute 2. in the NT, any fornicator i.e. anyone engaging in sexual immorality 3.a man who indulges in unlawful sexual intercourse 4.immoral person What is sexual immorality? Premarital sex is a sexual immorality or not? As far I know no traditional religion , Judaism including permitted premarital sex and treated it as sexual immorality. I know many consider premarital sex as love expression these days. Many consider homosexuality as something good and legal... but the New Testament was not written in the 21 century by anglo-saxons of today's western culture but by some Jews living 2000 years ago. So what did they mean by - pornoi ( fornicators) is not what many mean today after 20 centuries. In Judaism 2000 years ago premarital sex was prohibited and the woman caught was stoned. And this is logical and cultural context of using the word fornicator in Corintians 6:9
Seriously a woman will never ever feel secure Untill you marry her to show commitment Your arguement is “love” but it’s okay coz you are a man but for a woman it’s another story So pre marital sex is wrong whenever the bible talks about couple it always leads to marriage u can find it from adam, abraham, joseph, even the prophets!!! My body is the temple of god i will only let my spouse no one else
It is sad that in the biblical world of the first century, and the centuries before that it was the woman who had to be pure when they entered into marriage. Some of the rules on sex show the double standard. Nowhere in all the laws and instructions is there ever any idea of a penalty for an older woman's deflowering of a young man. Sex was pretty one-way, as the payments and stonings show. I think we are justified in opposing a double standard that allows men more sexual activity than women, but it takes some manipulation of texts to make it stand up biblically.
You are right I am doing the very thing you described here... I talk bad about homosexuals...but in the end I kept doing equally disgusting things.. it is indeed hyprocrisy... After my baptism I turned back to a sinful livestyle every day a bit more... it was out of frustration because I just didnt want to feel in anxiety all day long... For about three years I was desperate every single day because of guilt and every error I made no matter how small it was... I always kept telling me that because of my inner rebellious feelings I was never converted and not saved... After three years I was so frustrated that I turned back to a God-ignoring livestyle ... Well I should turn to a sane faith I know...
