Wet dreams a dealbreaker

    Hey guys!

    I would really appreciate some input on this. I've been clean for 87 days so far, no porn, no sex, no orgasm. It has certainly changed my life for the better, it has all this little benefits everywhere in my life that just adds up to one major reason why you should not masturbate. But there is one thing that I hate so much that it is on the verge of becoming a deal breaker for me: wet dreams.

    On average, I probably have 1 wet dream every week or two. Is that a lot or little or normal? In any case, I have dodged what could have been some embarrassing moments, particularly at times when I was on vacation waking up in the middle of the night to change real quick while everyone was asleep.

    Wet dreams are just the worst because it feels like what I would call a half orgasm, sometimes I even get a type of a headache from them, and of course the cleaning up... sigh...

    When I did masturbate, wet dreams was a very rare occurrence. After I complete this 90 day challenge, I think I am going to go back to masturbating, but maybe limit it to once a week.

    If there were no wet dreams, I promise you... let me repeat that, I promise you I would want to carry on the streak. Please guys, any input would be much appreciated. If it is techniques on preventing wet dreams, or just thoughts you want to share.

  2. Congrats on the 87 days man, you're almost there. I can understand why wet dreams this frequent would be an annoyance. I don't really think that it is not normal, so you shouldn't worry about health issues.
    When I did the 90 days the first time, I had the same idea. Go back to just MO-ing once in a while, nothing bad can come out of it right? I was so wrong. You see I got such a strong chaser effect after the 5th day that was worse than all the urges combined during the 90 days. My resistance got swept under in a minute, and after that it was not long before I went back to full PMO. So while the theory could work I suppose, in reality it messed me up pretty bad. So now I'm quitting for good.
    But to be honest, I had two wet dreams during the first 90 days of NoFap and I also hadn't had sex, so I can't really help you with my experience. Maybe for you it takes longer to fully reboot, and if you'd stay clean for like...I don't know, 120 days, it'd get better? I have no idea, just guessing. Anyway, 87 days, great! That is respectable!

    Yes, EarthDragon's comments are excellent. NoFapC: you seem to be saying you dislike the inconvenience of wet dreams. Anecdotally, I would imagine that an emission of semen every 1-2 weeks is above the average. Another factor you haven't considered (and it seems the first commenter didn't do either), is that 90 days might not be anyway near enough to rewire your brain's neural pathways, allowing for your brain to reboot 'to factory settings'. I do not know your personal history with porn in relation to your age and usage. But let us say, hypothetically, that you are only 50% of the way to the point where you would reboot. If you change tack on day 91 to masturbate every week or so, you will arrest your progress thus far and, as post #2 points out, you could quickly find yourself jerking off to porn all over again. What a waste that would be of your excellent effort so far. I urge you to think of 90 days as a milestone, not an end in itself.

    I agree with IGY, you may just be taking longer to reboot and they could go away at any point. At any rate, I'd encourage you to stay strong even through this struggle. Wet dreams are the worst, but IMHO not worse than the addiction and struggle of PMO. Why not just extend your goal to 120 days and see if anything changes? It's a small thing now to go another 30 days. It would be a massive thing in the future to go 120 after a serious relapse. It's worth a try just statistically and logistically speaking.

    Hey man, I know how you feel, I'm not as far in as you, but it's been 2 wet dreams in 7 days. It really sucks, but not as bad as relasping with P. Remember that, because I know the feeling after relapse is much worse, my brain wouldnt be this clear for one. the only suggestion i can give is maybe dont eat or drink too much before bed.

    Congratulations on your 87 days! I agree with the other people that giving in even once can cause a major relapse. I went about 8 months without masturbating, then I did it once and have been stuck in a pattern ever since.
    I also used to have an issue with wet dreams. Sometimes multiple times in a week. I found that sleeping on my stomach was making them more frequent, and also causing 'morning wood' more often. I've heard the clothes you wear to bed can also be a problem, so take a break from any silky pajamas. Lastly, if you are edging that could be what's causing the wet dreams. Making your body think it's having sex and then not allowing it to finish could be causing it to relieve the pressure put on it the only way it can.

    You could also try a spoonful of honey before bed. It's supposed to be good for bedwetters, so it might help with wet dreams.

    Thanks guys! I really do appreciate the advice and support! I can see how relapsing once can send someone back into that spiral of PMO frequently. Icyweb, I never edge, but you're right that could be a major reason for wet dreams if someone did that.

    I was pretty close to relapsing after these 90 days because of the wet dreams, but your support and advice really made me rethink it.

    You also made me try to reimagine the mindset I had back when I was PMO'ing. I've completely forgotten about that mindset, but trying to recall it I now remember feeling like a slave to PMO, little to no willpower over it...

    Thanks again guys, I needed that! I just wanna see that 90 day green checkmark, then I'm going to increase it to 120! :D

    Idk why everybody in the forum hates wet dreams. I love them. The day after wet dreams i feel calm and refreshed. It's like the anxiety that has been built up in me releases. Your body needs to release excess semen. After all its not worse than womens' periods. wet dreams are the reason i can go on pmo free without my balls exploding.

    Hey friend,

    I would not give up the streak. When you start masturbating once a week
    you will say twice a week then three times than four times etc.
    Then everything will change for the worse. Really rebooting means to stop
    masturbating at all and ONLY using women for Sex. Because starting
    masturbation will replace women and you will be getting worse with
    women.
