Further developed in what way? More ways to add points? Or more simplified? Because as it sits, this is a relatively unpopular challenge because it’s too complicated. Or maybe because the aesthetic isn’t compelling enough, or the “rewards” are too far spaced. I dunno.

Not necessarily simpler, but easier to use. I don't know, I have a few ideas. I think the point system is good, I think it could be reworked. I love the theme and levels. I think the point system just forces some habits that not everyone is working on. Like, I think the whole thing should be more general or flexible. Maybe I could work on a new thread, and see if developing the liftoff challenge and making it more appealing would get more people involved. The most popular threads seem to be the ones that require the least amount of work for the challenger, which makes sense.

I think I posted justifications for each point category, but I could be wrong. Maybe most controversial are diet & exercise, which substantially award 2 each. I think these are key components of abstinence which are frequently overlooked. Exercise makes a world of difference in overall mood, and when you eat garbage you feel like garbage.

We could implement a customizable recovery challenge, but then there’s no standard to measure yourself against. The way it’s designed, if you consistently do all the activities, you should be done around the classic 90 day mark.
I’m with you, I think it’s too fiddly and that’s what’s driving people off. At the same time, abstinence is inherently more complicated than simply not jerking off to porn. It’s like driving a car, or launching a rocket, as it were; a lot more steps need to be taken than you’d think.

I see you have a “no scrolling” goal and I fully support that, as one of the crucial steps to not using porn. It’s one more thing to keep track of, though, for points. Or maybe it wasn’t such a high priority for me when I started this challenge. Why haven’t I completed it again?

I like the customizable thing. But lowkey I'm very busy recently but I think I'm gonna try and make a word doc and see what I can come up with next week, that stays true to this original version.

There's duels of NoFap, which is alright I guess, and then every other challenge that are all the same. Pure day counting is just not the best way to recover because ultimately most fail and then some give up.

I was at 322. It’s been 11 days since I last checked in, and I count 71 points so it puts me in at…

    393. Only 107 points to go. I can do it in 12 days, if I remember to be encouraging/dole out support on the forum, keep running, and stick with no sugar. It’s been easier to do the no sugar thing when I’m by myself and buying my own food. Don’t feel bad about turning people down.

The Liftoff Challenge – Flexible Recovery Tracker

    How far can you fly?

For those who wish to recover from their problems with Porn and/or Masturbation while simultaneously pursuing life goals, the Liftoff Challenge is the challenge for you! Reach 1500 points to blast out of the Solar System!

    [IMG][IMG]

To score in this challenge, you must simply avoid resets and relapses.

NoFap Points (based on your desired goal of No P, No PM, or No PMO)

    · +1 point for each clean day

    · +3 points for each day past 10 clean days in a row

    · +5 points for each day past 30 clean days in a row

    · +10 points for each day past 90 clean days in a row

However, you can speed up your journey to space by using Flex Points.

    FLEX POINTS

Every day, you can choose to pursue up to 5 goals. Each goal you complete earns you 3 points, meaning you can score up to 15 flex points a day. The graph below shows the how fast Flex Points can help you on your mission!

With successful use of Flex points, you can complete the Liftoff in under 90 days.

    Infractions:

For those who choose No P

    · -50 Points for any viewing of P

For those who choose No P and No M

    · -50 Points for any PMO

    · -25 Points for any MO

    · -25 Points for any P

For those who are pursuing full Monk Mode with no sex

    · -50 points for any PMO

    · -50 points for any O (excluding nocturnal emissions)

    · -25 points for any MO

    · -25 points for any P

You can use any method to keep up with your score, but you can copy and paste this template to log your progress:

    Day X:

    · +X points for No PMO

    · +3 points for (Flex Goal 1)

    · +3 points for (Flex Goal 2)

    · +3 points for (Flex Goal 3)

    · +3 points for (Flex Goal 4)

    · +3 points for (Flex Goal 5)

    Total: 0

    Level: Troposphere

I will also make an example daily journal post below.

    Additional Rules

    1. Challenge starts at Day 0. You can bring your previous streak into the challenge, but you must start scoring from a 0 point total. Score yourself every day, in reference to the chart. Note your progress, here or in your journal, recording what day you are on, how many points you have accumulated, and how many points you need to gain the next level. It may help to note how you scored (or lost!) your points.

    2. 0 points is the minimum. If you lose points with a total of 0, it remains at 0.

    3. If you forget to journal, you can estimate the points you think you got.

    4. If you had a combined infraction, you don’t lose dock points for the singular infractions as well.

    5. Points lost is not counted by day, but how many times you commit a P, M, and/or O infraction. This means if you binge, you must dock points each infraction. Note that you can arrest the process at any time and limit your losses, but bingeing is a sure way to sabotage your progress.

    6. DM me if you reach 1500 points, and I will put you in the Space Explorers’ Hall of Fame.

    7. New Levels will be added for Space Explorers who wish to continue the journey beyond 1500.

    8. You may repeat the challenge as many times as you wish.

    9. The Countdown to Liftoff Challenge, like everything we do here, is limited to self reporting. You can lie to us about your progress if you want. You can even lie to yourself. You can't lie to your body, and you're only cheating yourself.

    10. Stick to the same goals for Flex Points. You can change them at any time, but obviously don’t keep switching them to take advantage of the system. That’s not helping you at all.

    FAQs

    Q: What counts as porn?
A: It's up to you to define it, and a topic that has been widely discussed in other threads. Feel free to peruse those threads and deeply consider it yourself, and be open to tailoring that definition along your journey. You may find your initial assessment has been too strict, or too lax.

Q: Do I need to count the days?

A: No, it’s up to you.

Q: Do I start counting days from when I start the challenge, or what day I’m actually on in my streak?

A: This is also up to you.

    DISCLAIMER

Completing this challenge does not equate a cured addiction. This challenge is designed to assist users with learning how to abstain, which is a necessary step but not the extent of curing addiction. As you acquire experience and skills in addressing abstention from pornography, masturbation, and orgasm, we strongly encourage you to conceptualize addiction as a maladaptive coping mechanism, to consider what you use PMO to cope with, and to develop a more appropriate strategy for resolving that problem. When you have a healthy way to deal with various life problems, the desire itself to use PMO should reduce.

This is my proposed new challenge. There's obviously some problems with line spacing and images by copying it over from word, but you get the idea. The points go from 0-1500+, from the Troposphere through the Solar System. The more goals you work on and succeed at (up to 5), the faster you progress. So the fastest time you can beat the challenge (with no setbacks) is 80 days, and the slowest is 203. In general, a solid recovery time. I won't post unless you approve @Meshuga because a lot of it is copied from this challenge.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

You can go ahead and post this if you want. I don’t have any possessive feelings about the model. I even think it’d be good for variations of it to be out there, like there’s umpteen variations of simple day counting with thematic milestones.

There’s more flexibility in your version, which does allow more freedom, but also provides less guidance. I incentivize diet & exercise because I think those elements of discipline are crucial, but frequently overlooked. It’s like, “What does exercise have to do with not looking at porn?” The answer is, “More than you know.” I also incentivize positive forum behavior because it’s good for the community, and it’s good for the individual, to be encouraging and supportive of his fellow addicts. Those specific positive behaviors get turned into flex goals, potentially worth the same as “I put on pants today.” Which if that’s where you’re at in life, I guess you need encouragement to do at least that much, but it’s hardly the same as running five miles.

Just thoughts. I say run the challenge, and see if it gets more takers. Anything that helps guys genuinely abstain & recover from porn addiction, rather than spin their figurative wheels in a cycle of urges & regret, is a good thing imo.

    Thanks for the advice.

I'm gonna add the option to substitute provided habits, like diet and exercise, with higher weighted points. I'll do that only for things that are universally supported for general health by doctors and professionals.
