Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by WhyNotStop, Feb 7, 2016.

Porn is any image, film, audio, or text that is designed to invoke sexual arousal artificially.
If you're looking at exposing pics that that is considered a porn substitute.
If you're masturbating w/o orgasm that is considered a form of edging which some consider even worse that PMO.

You should just stop masturbating, looking at pics, and just go hardmode.
    My 2 cents

    1. writings, pictures, films, etc, designed to stimulate sexual excitement
    2. the production of such material
Ask yourself - what I am looking at, is it "designed to stimulate sexual excitement"? If the answer is yes, then it is porn.

    p/subs

This means porn substitutes and is used on this site to describe things which are not intended to stimulate sexual excitement, but they turn YOU on. For example, some guys have a sexual fetish for feet. So, if that applies to you and you look at pictures of girl's feet that would be a p/sub. The result in the reaction in your brain is much the same to be honest.

    edging

This is masturbating, getting close to shooting your cum, stopping for a brief time and building up again. This very harmful to the healing process that you are here to achieve. The best advice is don't touch your dick unless you're washing/peeing.

  4. okay, how can I block any form of P from my iPhone? I've blocked it with restriction but one, I know the password, and two, the search engine I use does not provide very good "safe search" protection. Thank You!

At the end of the day porn blockers are useless. You'll find a way to watch porn. You have to really want to change.
Its not easy, but its worth it.

  6. yup true, I really wanna change. This is harder than I thought it would be. I've wasted so much time today... I'm tired of the problems that PMO has brought to my life, I wanna feel free again! :'( Thank you

  7. Some people can achieve arousal by touching their nipples or navel. I suggest it's edging too.

Porn blockers can work if you having trouble mindlessly looking for porn or porn substitute. May give you a chance to realize that you are being triggered. At the end of the day it is up to you to stop yourself from looking.

  9. Some music videos could be considered a porn substitute; I boasted that I didn't watch porn but I used to watch a lot of music videos from 2004 to 2014. I may be or not a coincidence that I started MBing roughly at the same time I started watching MTV.

When I very first started, I actually didn't look at porn for about 2-3 years (I actually despised anything that was non-softcore). I started with different video games.

Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball, The Guy Game, Leisure Suite Larry and BMXXX

I also seeked out any nude scene I could find in different movies. The amount of fast forwarding and going back and forth was pathetic, but man it's funny to laugh about that now, 10 years later. When I found out my sister had some rated R teen comedies I felt like I was in heaven!

The American Pie Series were my usual go to:p

Justice Potter Stewart of the US Supreme Court in the case of Jacobellis v. Ohio, 378 U.S. 184 (1964) famously described hard-core pornography as, "I know it when I see it".

Although I am providing the link for your reference below, the case is about "obscenity".

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/378/184

Justice Stewart's concurring opinion held that with the exception of hard-core pornography, obscenity is protected by the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the US Constitution.

  12. I don't care about the US Constitution, I am not American. I find the basic tenets of Catholic moral teaching more cogent, even if I don't believe in the supernatural parts.

From the Cathechism of the Catholic Church

You're missing the point of my previous post.

The Thread asks us for us to provide a definition of pornography.

I am simply pointing out that even a Judge in a highly respected Court could not provide such a definition.

My post had nothing to do with the United States, its Constitution or any legal document for that matter. There were no moral or religious components to my post either.

In fact, Justice Stewart's concurrence in this case is one of the most laughable and embarrassing moments in the US Supreme Court's history.

  14. I reply by providing definition from one of the world's leading religious institutions.

There was a moral component to the United States Supreme Court decision that I've quoted in the previous post. I responded to it too.

Even though I am not a Catholic, I agree with you that the Vatican's definition of pornography is far more intelligent than the US Supreme Court's.

But that is exactly my point.

My post mocks the US Supreme Court with respect to this issue. If you want to define pornography, you must ask the late Justice Stewart.

My point is that most intellectuals cannot even define the term. This is what makes this Thread so interesting.

I mean sometimes it comes unexpected... one can turn his face away but is that a problem if one is going for a challenge?

Rule of thumb: When you feel that any distraction is holding you back from reaching an important goal, then you are "escaping". And this is the point where you want to work on yourself.

Whether the distraction is porn, or a porn stubstiute, or gambling, alcohol, surfing the internet - in fact, all these are distractions which are holding you back from living a meaningful life.

nofap is not a dogmatic religion; it is about improving your personality!

It's only p sub if you continue watching in order to get aroused. But sometimes it can be very hard to know whether you're watching a movie because you like it or because there are hot girls in them, and then it'd be better not to, for safety's sake.
But, for example, if you really like The Titanic because of how well made it is, it isn't psub, even if you don't look away when the "draw me like one of your french girls" scene happens. Just make sure you're not thinking "Hm, let's Google for some French girls after this" or pause the video at a certain moment.
In the end, there aren't exact cases of what is and what isn't psub, it all depends on with what mentality you are watching it [IMG]
